How it works

Meet Listo — the list app that’s ready when you are.

A complete tour: what Listo does, how each feature works, what is free, what is Pro, and exactly what happens to your information along the way.

What is Listo?

Listo is a lists-and-notes app for iPhone, iPad and Android. It’s built for the lists real life runs on — the weekly shop, the hardware-store run, the packing list, the birthday party — and it works the same in English and Spanish.

Listo is Spanish for ready, and for done — which is what a checked-off item is. Our motto says the rest: Say it. Save it. Use it.

Three ideas shape everything in the app:

  • Local-first. Your lists and notes live on your device in a private database and sync to your private account. No sign-up, and everything works offline.
  • AI that helps, never decides. Voice and AI features make input faster, but you review every draft and nothing is saved until you tap Save. Every manual feature works with AI switched off.
  • Truly bilingual. The interface, voice, planning and aisle grouping all speak English and Spanish natively.

Lists

Lists are the heart of Listo. Add items as fast as you can think of them:

  • Type or paste. Paste a whole list from a message or a note and every line becomes an item.
  • Suggestions. Things you’ve added before appear as you type — tap once to add them again. Suggestions come from this device’s own history only.
  • Details when you want them. Quantities, prices and categories are optional, and editing is inline.
  • Check, reorder, tidy. Check items off, drag to reorder, check or uncheck everything at once, or clear the checked items when you’re done.

Any list can be duplicated, shared as plain text, favorited, or archived. A progress bar shows how far along you are.

Group by aisle

Turn on aisle grouping and your list rearranges itself into store sections — produce, dairy, meat, bakery, frozen and more. Listo recognizes everyday items in both English and Spanish using a built-in dictionary that runs on your device, so “cilantro,” “queso fresco” and “frozen peas” all land where they belong.

Under Settings → Store layout you can put the sections in the order you actually walk your store, so the list follows you from the entrance to the register.

Templates & repeating lists

Some lists come back every week. Save any list as a template and start new lists from it in one tap — perfect for a camping checklist or a holiday dinner.

Or make a list repeat: daily, weekly on the day you choose, or monthly. When it resets, every item unchecks itself so the list is ready for the next trip — your groceries can be waiting fresh every Saturday morning.

Reminders

Add a reminder like “tomorrow at 9” or “every Saturday,” and Listo sends a notification that opens straight to the list. Reminders are scheduled on your device as local notifications — no server is involved.

Budgets & prices

Give a list a budget, add prices to items as you shop, and record what you actually spent. A clear indicator shows whether you’re over or under, so there are no surprises at checkout.

Notes

Not everything is a checklist. Notes autosave as you type, and can be favorited, shared, archived and searched alongside your lists. Gate codes, recipes, gift ideas — they all live next to the lists they belong with.

Spaces, search & archive

Spaces are colorful, emoji-tagged folders — Home, Work, Kids, Vacation — with live item counts. Rename or recolor them any time, and move any list or note between them. Deleting a Space never deletes what’s inside.

Search looks across list titles, list items and note text. On iPhone and Android it ignores accents, so “jalapeno” finds “jalapeño.”

The archive keeps finished lists out of the way without losing them. Restore anything with a tap, or delete it permanently when you’re sure.

Voice lists Pro

Tap the microphone and talk naturally: “We need milk, a dozen eggs, two avocados and something for Sofia’s lunch.” Listo turns it into a clean, de-duplicated list. Here is exactly what happens:

  1. You tap the microphone. Listo never listens in the background.
  2. The app asks for microphone permission the first time.
  3. You speak. The recording stays on your device until you stop — up to 60 seconds on Free, or 5 minutes on Pro.
  4. The recording is sent securely to the Listo AI service, which transcribes it and organizes it into a structured list.
  5. The audio is discarded. It’s held in memory only for the request and is never written to disk.
  6. You review the draft — remove anything, edit anything, pick a Space.
  7. Only when you tap Save is anything added to your library.

The AI never gets direct access to your lists. It returns a suggestion, the app double-checks it, and you decide what to keep.

AI Planner Pro

Describe what you’re making or doing — “tacos for 12,” “repaint the guest bathroom,” “a weekend camping trip for four” — and the AI Planner builds the list for you:

  • Ingredients or supplies with quantities
  • Approximate prices to help you budget
  • Steps, and any warnings worth knowing
  • Optional preferences like budget, dietary needs, location or materials

Save the result as a new list, or merge it into an existing one — matching items combine instead of doubling up. Prices are estimates and vary by store, place and date.

A “suggest items” helper can also look at a list you’ve started and offer what you might be missing.

Links & photos Pro

Some lists already exist — they just aren’t in Listo yet.

  • Paste a recipe link. Listo reads the public page and turns the recipe into an ingredient list with steps.
  • Snap a photo. A handwritten list on the fridge, a recipe card from grandma, a receipt — Listo reads it and builds the list.

Only the one link or photo you choose is sent, it’s processed without being stored, and location data in photos is never requested. As always, you review the result before saving.

English & Spanish

Listo follows your phone’s language and can be switched in Settings at any time. It isn’t a translated menu: voice capture understands Spanish speech, the AI Planner plans in Spanish, and aisle grouping recognizes Spanish item names — including the mixed-language lists many families actually write.

Light and dark mode are built in, too: follow your device, or choose one.

Sharing

Invite someone to a list with a link or a QR code. By default you approve each person before they see anything. Then everyone sees changes live, who checked what, and who’s at the store right now, with optional notifications when a shared list changes. Remove anyone, or leave, at any time.

Any list or note can also be shared as text from the share button — into a message, an email, or anywhere else.

Free & Pro

Listo is free forever for everything that runs on your phone, with no ads. The AI features are part of Listo Pro, because each use costs real money to run. Free installs can try each AI feature once.

Free and Pro compared
Feature Free Pro
Lists, notes, Spaces, aisles, templates, reminders, budgets, search Unlimited Unlimited
Voice lists 1 to try 150 / month
AI plans, suggestions, link & photo imports 1 to try 150 / month
Longest single recording 60 seconds 5 minutes

Pro is available monthly or yearly, priced in your local currency in the app. Subscriptions are billed by the App Store or Google Play, and you can cancel any time from your store account settings.

Privacy

Your lists, notes and Spaces are stored on your device and synced privately to your account. Only you and the people you approve on a shared list can see them. There’s no advertising and no tracking, and nothing is sold. Audio, photos and planning requests leave your phone only when you deliberately use an AI feature — processed and discarded, never stored.

Optional anonymous usage counts and crash reports can be switched off in Settings at any time, and never include the content of your lists or notes.
